Root Canal Treatment in KR Puram
A root canal saves a tooth that is infected or badly decayed, so it does not have to be removed. We use rotary instruments, which clean the tooth faster and with less discomfort than hand files. Most root canals here are done in one visit.

What happens, step by step
We explain each step before we do it.
- 01
X-ray and diagnosis
We take a digital x-ray to see how far the infection has gone and confirm a root canal is the right call.
- 02
Local anaesthesia
The tooth and the area around it are fully numbed. You may feel pressure, but not pain.
- 03
Cleaning the canal
The infected part inside the tooth is removed, and the canal is cleaned, disinfected and dried.
- 04
Filling and sealing
The canal is filled and sealed the same day, and the tooth is closed with a temporary or permanent filling.
- 05
Crown
A root canal treated tooth becomes brittle, so we put a crown on it, usually a week later.
Before you book
- You can eat normally a couple of hours after the appointment.
- Mild soreness for a day or two is normal. Painkillers take care of it.
- A root canal without a crown is the most common reason a treated tooth fails later.
Is a root canal painful?
No. The tooth is numbed first, so you feel pressure but not pain. Most patients say the toothache before was much worse.
How many visits will it take?
Most root canals at SmileFit finish in a single sitting. Badly infected teeth may need a second visit a few days later.
Can I get the crown at a different SmileFit clinic?
Yes. Your file is saved for both clinics.
