What happens, step by step
We explain each step before we do it.

- 03
Polishing
The teeth are polished smooth so tartar builds up more slowly.
Good to know
Before you book
- Scaling does not loosen teeth. Any wobble you feel is the swollen gum settling down.
- A cleaning every six months prevents most gum problems.
- If you also want whiter teeth, whitening is a separate appointment.
Questions patients ask
Will scaling make my teeth sensitive?
Mild sensitivity for a few days is common, especially if there was a lot of tartar. It goes away on its own.
How often should I get scaling done?
Every six months for most people. If you have gum disease, every three to four months.
